How do I enable or disable the Num Lock key on logon screen
Microsoft Windows users can adjust how Windows handles the Num Lock status by editing the Windows registry.
Cation! with Windows registry, you can have potential problems that may occur if edited improperly, always backup registry.
Windows, Vista, 7, 8
Click Start and type regedit in the Search programs and files text field to open the Windows registry editor.
In the registry, open the below folders:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelKeyboard
Within the keyboard folder, you should have a string value named "InitialKeyboardIndicators" with a value of 0, 1, or 2.
Explanation of each of these values.
0 = Num Lock is turned OFF after the logon.1 = Disable Num Lock.2 = Numlock is turned ON after the logon.
Windows NT, 2000, XP
Click Start, click Run, and type regedit to open the Windows registry editor.
In the registry, open the below folders:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelKeyboard
