How Can I Fix After upgrading to 8 1 from 8 I lost one of my EXCEL files

After upgrading to 8.1 from 8, I lost one of my EXCEL files.

After completing the 8.1 upgrade, I lost just one of my EXCEL files (the one I use every day).
 Its name now shows it as a windows.old file, but I cannot find it.
 The basket for windows.old is empty, but I cannot specifically look at EXCEL.
 How do I
find this file/data?
