Or use this method if you where able open task manager via CTR + ALT + DEL

1) Hit Windows + R and type "explorer.exe"  like on image below instead of regedit.exe
a) Or Ctrl Alt Del:

2) In the text box below type: "explorer.exe"
3) click OK.

4) If your PC is start you are OK if not go to the step5.
5) Then close it and restart. 

6) Hold down the F8 key before the Windows logo appears. If the computer makes a complaining noise, tap the F8 key repeatedly instead of holding it down. 

7) If a Windows logo or “Windows starting” appears, wait until Windows loads. Then restart the computer and try pressing F8 again. 

8) Once you are successful, a menu will appear with a number of boot options. Use an arrow key to navigate to “Safe Mode” and press the Enter key.

9) When start in  “Safe Mode” Scan your pc for viruses

10) Scan your local C drive where OS is installed for errors

How Can You Fix After installing Windows 7 my dvd drive is no where to be found

After installing Windows 7, my dvd-drive is no where to be found?

Im currently using a Dell Studio 1737 (laptop), wich came with Windows Vista Home Premium.
I preformed a clean install of Windows 7 Proffesional and now my computer does not find my optical drive.
Ive tried all of the steps in the guide ">http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060 but there are no upper/lowerfilters, and there is no CD/DVD option in the Device Manager.
Ive also tried downloading updates from Dell for the
drive, however it seems to be up to date.
What to do?

Well, we could have a few things here.
Let me ask this, does your Micro/SD card reader ever come up under letter E: ?

Try this:

1.
Turn the computer off completely
2.
Turn on the computer and immediately start pressing F2 (for setup).
If the setup key shows as something different on the screen, obviously hit that key instead

In the BIOS setup, does it show that there is a CD/DVD drives connected?


If the BIOS looks anything like the image above, you will need to go to the Onboard Devices section, I believe, to confirm that the BIOS sees the drive.
This will allow us to determine whether the issue is in the hardware or software realm.

Windows Restore - Totally Fix All Errors including After installing Windows 7, my dvd-drive is no where to be found?

• Click on the Start button on the Taskbar.
• Type "System Restore" (without quotes) in the Search box and hit Enter or,
• Click on System Restore (when you see System Restore pop up  in the list of search results).
• Make sure the "Recommended restore" radio button is checked on the restore utility window.
• Click on Next and follow the instructions given.

Note: There is the option on the restore utility to select "Choose a different restore point". Unless you have a specific reason to select a different date and time than what Windows recommends, just select the recommended option stated in the steps above. If you choose to select another one, follow these steps:

Once completed, click Next and follow the instructions given.

Once you have selected the restore point, your system will start the restoring process, after which you will have to restart the system.

7 ultimate. no portugues/spansih dictionary for word docs etc?

7 ultimate: I was promised by the MS certified vendor that if i bought w7 ultimate I would be ablet to type in office 7 (word) in protugues becasue i need to make documents in portugues/spanish etc..
but now that i have reformated my computer, spent days
uploading languges packs, it does not have the portuguese spell check dictionary for anything but english.
did i miss something.? have i been lied to ? what now?

Run CHKDSK

• Go to the Start button.
• In the Search box, type "cmd" (without quotes) and press Enter.
• At the command prompt, type "chkdsk /r /f" (without quotes) and press Enter.
• Reboot your computer.

"Access denied as you do not have significant privileges. You have to invoke this utility in elevated mode."

If you receive the above error message, it means you are not logged into you computer as an Administrator. If thats the case, follow these steps to run the command prompt in elevated mode:
