Thank you for posting to the Microsoft Answers Forum.
Are you getting an error message when trying to start Pinnacle Studio 12? If so, then please reply back with the exact error message.
Have you tried to install in safe mode?
Have you tried to install in Compatibility mode?
If the program is not compatible, then you may try to install and run the program in compatibility mode.
Use the following steps:
1) Right click on the Program
2) Click on Properties
3) Click on Compatibility tab
4) Select Run this program in compatibility mode and select Windows Vista or whatever operating system the program was running successfully.
Pinnacle Studio 12 shows to be compatible with Windows 7 but Pinnacle Studio Plus version 12 and Pinnacle Studio Ultimate version 12 are not compatible.
They need an upgrade to be compatible.
Please reply back with an update and let us know if your issue is resolved or if you still need assistance.

- Access the files on your computer via MY COMPUTER
- Under the C: drive, access the WINDOWS folder
- Select the SOFTWARE DISTRIBUTION folder, followed by the DOWNLOAD folder.
- Delete any files within this download folder.
- If you are unable to delete these files, open the command prompt (CMD) as the administrator, and type "net stop wuauserv" into the CMD prompt window. Press ENTER. This should allow you to delete the files from step 4.
- Once the files are deleted, open and run the CMD as the administrator and type "wuauclt.exe /updatenow". Press ENTER.

How to fix C PROGRA 1 COMMON 1 System SysMenu dll error The specified module could not be found
Ever logged on to your PC and discovered a mysterious SysMenu.dll error message youve never seen before? If the answer to that is "yes", then, just like thousands of people worldwide, you have been infected with a PUP. PUPs – which is short for Potentially Unwanted Programs - are computer software programs that install themselves without you knowing about it and then, rather presumptuously, take it upon themselves to install new files on your PC. Some of them can cause a RunDLL C:PROGRA~1COMMON~1SystemSysMenu.dll error message on startup saying that the specified module could not be found.

SysMenu.dll has been detected as malware by multiple anti-virus engines (scan results). Its usually detected as Goobzo, Skodna.A8D, Win32:Adware-CDO [PUP] or simply Unwanted-Program. However, I must say that detection ratio is still pretty low, just 18 out of 57, which means that most users will not be warned about this malware when installing certain programs, mostly freeware and adware. So just how do you install something without knowing that youre doing so? Well Potentially Unwanted Programs make it their business to be pretty sneaky. They dont discriminate either; they might be packaged with a program that is totally legitimate and reputable, or with something that is a little more shady – or even illegal.
Does that mean I have to stop downloading files and programs?
Well, it would be virtually impossible to say that we should never download anything ever again. From tools that enable us to work, to instant messengers to audio and video files to fun lifestyle apps and games, theres no way we want to, or should have to, give up installing the programs we want and need on our devices. So what do you do if you dont want to run the risk of also downloading a Potentially Unwanted Program and then getting the SysMenu.dll error? The point is, you need to be careful. PUPs are sneaky but they are possible to spot if you are extra vigilant.
Installing a decent anti-malware program is clearly important – for protection against everything nasty and unwanted but there are other things you can do. One is to make sure the programs you have installed on your computer are up to date. By ensuring that everything running on your PC is the newest version you will know that they have the latest security measures in place. The same goes with making sure you also have Microsofts latest security patches installed. This is a great line of defense in the war against all malware, not just PUPs that cause C:PROGRA~1COMMON~1SystemSysMenu.dll startup error.
Just as important, if not even more so, the next time you want to download a program, app or freeware or shareware file, make sure to read the End User License Agreement very carefully. PUPs will normally be mentioned in the small print as an added extra so ensure that check boxes relating to these add-ons are correctly configured so that you dont download them too.
Getting rid of C:PROGRA~1COMMON~1SystemSysMenu.dll error
Despite their title, its fair to say that PUPs are generally unwanted rather than only potentially unwanted but the silver lining on the PUP cloud is that the majority of them are actually fairly simple to remove from your machine. Simply go to the Windows Start Menu and delete them through the Remove or Uninstall Programs option. If you dont know what to look for, list your programs by installation date. SysMenu.dll Error Removal Guide:
1. First of all, download recommended anti-malware software and run a full system scan. It will detect and remove this infection from your computer. You may then follow the manual removal instructions below to remove the leftover traces of this malware. Hopefully you wont have to do that.
2. Download Autoruns for Windows and save it to your Desktop.
3. Launch autoruns.exe program (Vista/Windows 7/8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator).
4. In the top menu, click File > Find... and type the file name SysMenu.dll, then click Find Next. Alternatively, you can scroll through the list and look for any entry related to SysMenu.dll.
5. If found, right-click on the entry and choose delete. They are usually yellow highlighted.
6. Close Autoruns and reboot your computer when done.
7. Scan your computer with anti-malware software.

Heres what it looks like if Tesla can replicate its Model S dominance with the Model 3.
What happens when the price of electric cars falls lower than the gasoline-powered competition? Thats the question Tesla Motors Inc. wants to answer with its Model 3, which will carry a $35,000 price tag at its unveiling on March 31. But we dont need to wait until the Model 3 goes on sale, because Tesla already has an inexpensive electric vehicle to learn from: the Model S.
Sure, you might not think of a $70,000 sedan as cheap. The sticker price doesnt even even include the thousands in add-ons purchased by most Tesla shoppers. But within the class of competitors—premium, large-sized luxury vehicles—the Model S is a bargain. Its faster, safer, and by many measures more convenient than its fancy, gas-chugging peers. In less than four years it has become the top-selling large-luxury vehicle in the U.S., already outselling high-end options from Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi.
The Model 3 is designed to replicate this success in a much bigger class of car: entry-level luxury (also known in the industry as "compact executive" or "small luxury"). This group is currently led by the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Elon Musk, Teslas chief executive officer, has compared the Model 3 in size to the Audi A4, a five-seat sedan with a roomier feel than those of some compact peers. For the newest Tesla to dominate entry-level luxury by the same margin held by the Model S in large luxury, it would mean sales of almost 170,000 a year in the U.S.
Analysts have been skeptical about the rollout of next-generation electric cars amid the long slump in oil prices that started in 2014. U.S. gasoline prices have held below $2 a gallon for all of 2016, and the rebound to higher prices is expected to be long and slow. That could substantially reduce demand for electric cars that compete with such mass-market compact cars as the Ford Focus, Chevy Cruz, and Honda Civic—all costing less than $22,000 and enjoying annual U.S. sales of more than 200,000 per year.
But in the entry-level luxury market, cheap gasoline shouldnt be much of an obstacle. The Model 3 will be one of the most affordable cars in the class, even before accounting for government incentives for purchasing electric cars and savings on gasoline. If the $35,000 Model 3 retains some of the performance and design thrills that have become Teslas trademark, gasoline savings will be just another perk for the brochure. Well soon know more.
The Model S sedan redefined electric cars for the American consumer. The car rockets from 0 to 60 miles per hour in as little as 2.6 seconds—faster than most of the worlds priciest supercars, including Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Porsches, and McLarens. With no engine up front, it has a huge crumple zone and the highest safety ratings of any car on the road. Its all-electric range approaching 300 miles per charge means most drivers never need to power up outside their own garages. Theres also the possibility that Teslas industry-leading autopilot features will be extended to the masses in the Model 3.
The Model 3 will be unveiled at Teslas design studio in Hawthorne, Calif., on March 31. The first deliveries are scheduled for next year.

Issue: Windows Vista and Windows 7 sometimes have problem with Windows Live Gadget as it does not work and gives error message- " Could not connect to Service". When the weather gadget stops working the currency gadget also does not work.
As per the Microsofts support website weather gadget may not work if the following conditions are true:
When the Weather Gadget stops working or having some issue it will show an exclamation mark next to it and also shows message "Cannot connect to service".
And when you see error message Weather gadget cannot connect to service, you might wanna check after changing the location to see its weather.So you would click on the settings button on weather gadget and then type the name of the location.But if you try to change the location when weather gadget stops working you would get error message "Location not found".
In order to fix Weather Gadget I did a lots of research and found different misleading solution which actually does not fix this issue rather waste your time but just to let you know I am first mentioning what all I have found as claiming problem solved using these steps.Please make a note that none of these ever worked.As per the Microsofts support website weather gadget may not work if the following conditions are true:
- System Restore was performed.
- User Account Control (UAC) is turned on.
- The scannow command finds missing or corrupted system files.

How to fix Weather gadget stops working issue?
1. Start - type in Search box - COMMAND find at top of list- RIGHT CLICK - RUN AS ADMIN
sfc /scannow
2. Click on start and type regedit
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionSidebarSettings
On the right window create A New DWORD(32 Bit Value) with name “AllowElevatedProcess”
and set value as “1”.
Close Registry Editor
Restart
3. Start the command prompt by choosing run as administrator and type the following command lines.
cd "%programfiles%Windows Sidebar"
regsvr.exe wlsrvc.dll
4. Try to re-register concerned dll files of Windows gadget when gadget stops working.
(a).Go to Start and under search type in CMD then Right Click on it and click on Run as administrator.
(b). Then type these 3 commands one by one and hit Enter:
regsvr32 msxml3.dll
regsvr32 scrrun.dll
regsvr32 jscript.dll
(c). Then reboot your Windows PC and test it.
Tried all the above mentioned steps.It never helped me.Weather gadget still does not work and shows can not connect to service.One of the solutions suggested to rather download another similar apps named Pro Weather Gadget from the following location.

But let me tell you just one simple way that worked instantly and fixed the problems.
First Method.
Step 1. Go to "C:UsersUSERNAMEAppDataLocalMicrosoftWindows LiveServicesCache", open "Config.xml" (Right Mouse Click -> Edit) and save it (File -> Save) without doing any changes. After 10-20 seconds restart the gadget!
Second Method
A) Copy the following files and folder from a Windows 7 machine with a working stock weather gadget to a flash drive or network file share:
1. %localappdata%affected userlocalmicrosoftwindowswindows liveservicescacheconfig.xml (just copy the file)
2. %localappdata%affected userlocalmicrosoftwindowswindows sidebarcache168522d5-1082-4df2-b2f6-9185c31f9472 (copy entire folder which should contain one or more xml files)
3. %localappdata%affected userlocalmicrosoftwindowswindows sidebarsettings.ini (just copy the file)
B) Paste (OVERWRITE if ask) the copied folder and files into the same locations on the machine whose stock weather gadget is not working.
C) Drag the weather gadget back out and this time it should be working.

Third Method
Sometime you might receive an error message “Desktop gadget are managed by your system administrator.”
Open a Notepad then copy-paste the following text:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesWindowsSidebar]
“TurnOffSidebar”=-
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesWindowsSidebar]

Save it as Gadget_fix.reg. Run this File and reboot your Windows computer.
Note: Some of the website says weather gadget has been discontinued by microsoft and thats why weather gadget stops working.There is no such information and that is not correct.Microsoft told the user not to use the gadget as it makes your computer vulnerable.
Microsoft Says Windows Sidebar platform in Windows 7 and Windows Vista has serious vulnerabilities. Microsoft has retired the feature in newer releases of Windows. Gadgets could be exploited to harm your computer, access your computers files, show you objectionable content, or change their behavior at any time. An attacker could even use a gadget to take complete control of your PC.
If any of the gadgets intermittently does not start in windows 7 try this hotfix from microsoft described on page http://support.microsoft.com/kb/979164.
